About Hof

Hof, Germany

Hof is on the banks of the Saale River in the northeastern corner of Bavaria, at the Czech border. It is enclosed by the Bavarian district of Hof and serves as the district's administrative seat.

Hof is known for two local delicacies - Schnitz, a hotpot with boiled sausage sold in the streets, and Schlappenbier, a particularly strong beer which is available only on the first Monday after Trinity Sunday.

The Hof Theatre is a multi-purpose theatre whose construction was completed in 1994. It serves as an opera house and dramatic theatre, and hosts the city's ballet company and a youth theatre. The Hofer Symphoniker, Hof's symphony orchestra, plays as opera orchestra at the theatre and gives concerts at the Freiheitshalle Hof.
