Madrid is the capital of Spain, a cosmopolitan and historic city that is buzzing with energy at all hours. The population of the city is almost 3.2 million and the Madrid metropolitan area, around 6.3 million. The city is located on the Manzanares River and so-called ‘la Sierra’, a mountain range with a ski resorts, is just one-hour drive away.

Spain’s capital has privileged access to key markets in Europe, Latin America and the North of Africa and is one of most important cities for doing business in Europe.

Madrid boasts some of the most important art galleries in the world. The Museo Del Prado attracts more visitors than any other museum in Spain, while the extensive private collection of Thyssen-Bornemisza and the contemporary masterpieces of Museo Reina Sofía have their own followers.

Gorgeous architecture, the open atmosphere, lots of green areas, the weather, an excellent public transport network in addition to the variety of local cuisine makes living in Madrid a genuine pleasure.

Alcalá de Henares

Amazon is further expanding its fulfillment center network in Spain to respond to growing customer demand, increase the product selection and better support small independent sellers.

Located in Alcalá de Henares this new fulfillment center will be operational later this year. The new facility is certified as BREEAM good, providing low energy consumption and low carbon dioxide emissions.

San Fernando de Henares

San Fernando de Henares is a municipality of nearly 41,000 citizens. It lies 15 km east of Madrid, in the area called the Henares Corridor, part of the metropolitan area of Madrid. The downtown is compact, and the village shares a huge industrial area with several business centres and great public transport links to the capital and the nearby airport of Madrid-Barajas. It also boasts large parkland areas (urban and suburban) including some framed in the protected area Southeast Regional Park.

The modern San Fernando de Henares was established in the 18th century with the construction of the Royal Textile Factory by Fernando VI (current City Hall building). Opposite the Royal Factory is the present Plaza of Spain, which has recently seen its historic buildings restored and declared to be of cultural interest by the Community of Madrid. The town is now one of the engines of the industrial hub of the Henares Corridor.

Amazon locations

Madrid is home to a fulfillment center and a corporate office. The fulfillment center is based in the city of San Fernando de Henares and is Amazon’s first site in Spain. Amazon’s Spanish corporate office is located close to the Atocha train station. In addition to e-commerce professionals and a range of teams from finance to human resources and recruitment, it also hosts a Software Development Center (Tech Hub) with close to 400 professionals.
