Zainab A.Operations Area Manager | Dubai, UAE Zainab has always had the urge to learn and explore. When she met Amazonians at a recruitment fair, she had the feeling the company would allow her to keep busy and try new things. Today, she’s an area manager at our largest warehouse in the United Arab Emirates, managing a team of 175. People are often surprised when she tells them what she does. "They seem to think working in logistics or operations isn't a job for women," she says. "But I'm far from being the only woman here. Most people don’t realize the variety of roles there are in my field. A job in logistics teaches you a skill set that equips you for the future. It gives you room for growth. It gives you work-life balance that lets you pursue your dreams." Zainab studied Technology Innovation, Security, and Networking at university. She now has a job where she can see how data and technology are used to transform the way we work. "As Emiratis, we value generosity and giving back to the community," she points out. "We commit to these values in everything we do. I'm proud to prove that Emirati women can succeed in all fields. We can reach our potential and achieve our dreams while preserving our country’s culture and values. I feel so lucky to be an Emirati woman with the chance to mentor others and influence their career journeys." |

About our fulfillment centers »
What is a fulfillment center?
We call our sites fulfillment centers because they are where customer orders are fulfilled. First, we receive the products. Then, when we receive orders, they are picked, packed, and shipped.
How many fulfillment and sortation centers are there globally? And in MENA?
Amazon has more than 175 fulfillment centers across the globe, and that enables us to offer fast shipping. There are 16 sites in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), 11 in Egypt, and 8 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
How big are fulfillment centers?
Fulfillment centers range in size from about 2,000 to 40,000 square meters. Here, we store and ship millions of items. They include personal care products, electronics, books, pantry staples, and more.
What types of jobs do you generally hire for?
We hire for positions that include IT specialists, facilities technicians, warehouse associates, managers, and more. In addition to competitive wages, we offer many employees benefits.

How do you handle safety in fulfillment centers?
We prioritize safety at all times. New employees undergo a safety induction that covers basic safety aspects of all processes. We provide more training to make sure everyone has what they need to perform their job safely and confidently.
